Mike Sloan

Author name Mike Sloan is one of the longest-tenured staffers of the Sherdog team. He’s been a part of the MMA media giant for over a decade and has covered hundreds upon hundreds of fight events in his adopted hometown of Las Vegas. The native of Chicago’s friendly South Side graduated near the top of his class from Robert Morris and has been published dozens of times in various magazines (Grappling, Ultimate Athlete, TapOut, the original FightSport, etc.) and newspapers (Las Vegas Review-Journal) throughout the years. Thousands of reports, interviews, features and columns into his career, he is just getting started. The creator of the popular Pros Pick features, Sloan’s work has also appeared many times on the mighty ESPN.com. Aside from working for Sherdog, Sloan recently founded Burning Horse Media, an independent publishing and media company with the goal of assisting aspiring authors and visionaries throughout the various underground genres who simply haven’t gotten their chance to shine yet. Sloan is himself in the midst of ghostwriting two autobiographies and will start on a separate biography and fiction novel later this year. On top of that, Mike Sloan is also one of leading contributors for SecondsOut.com (one of the world’s biggest boxing news sites in conjunction with maxboxing.com) and Blistering.com, one of the most powerful sites dedicated to the only music that matters: metal. With that in mind, be on the lookout for his new blog coming soon, which will coincide with the fight sites he writes for.
