Cyrille
Diabate will meet the unbeaten Jimi Manuwa
in a light heavyweight showcase at
UFC on Fuel TV 7 on Saturday at Wembley Arena in London. As he
approaches his 40th birthday, the French striker admitted as much
during a pre-fight press conference:
“I won’t lie. I’ve been thinking about retirement for several years. Motivation is a factor. After 22 years of fighting, you get to think of these things. It was a battle for a couple of years, trying to get hard training in at the gym. Right now, it’s not an issue. I showed that in my last fight. I got in a training camp. I got my mind set on winning, and it’s motivated me more for this fight and this training camp, so I feel good.”
