HBO Boxing Weigh-in Results: Crawford, Postol Cleared for Unification Bout

It’s the first true super fight of the summer and it’s expected to one for the ages. American Terence Crawford and Viktor Postol will meet in the main event of an HBO Pay-Per-View card at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas in a junior welterweight title unification bout.

And at Friday afternoon’s weigh-ins, both combatants, as well as the rest of the main card, cleared weight and greenlit the event.

Postol (28-0, 12 KOs) scored the biggest win of his career last year when the unbeaten Ukrainian toppled longtime veteran Lucas Matthysse via 10th-round knockout. Not many within the sport gave Postol much of a chance against the hard-hitting Argentinean, but “The Iceman” was nearly flawless that night in California and scored the upset. Now he’ll turn his attention to Crawford, who many believe will be among the elite of this generation. Postol, the WBC champion at junior welterweight, tipped the scale at 139.5 pounds.

Crawford, who possesses the WBO title in the division, has looked like an all-time great in the making thus far. He’s dominated every man he’s faced but Postol will surely be the stiffest test of his career. Crawford has already won the WBO lightweight title to go along with his 140-pound crown, and he’s looking to add Postol’s belt to his mantle. “Bud” looked equally on point at the scale on Friday and nailed it; he came in right at 140 pounds.

Oscar Valdez (126 pounds) and Francisco Santana (125 pounds) will clash for the WBO featherweight title in the co-feature.

The HBO PPV telecast will go live starting at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.
