Marquardt (Pictured), on “Beatdown,”
discussing the 10-point must system:
“I think the [10-point must] system is good, but I honestly feel like most judges don’t really utilize the full system. They score every round either 10 or a 9 for either opponent. They’re rarely using 10-8 rounds where you see a guy gets knocked down once or twice. I feel like if there’s a dominant round where the guy’s getting knocked down, that should be a 10-8 round. That’s how it is in boxing. If you knock the guy down and nothing else happens, that’s a 10-8 round. I also feel like 10-10 rounds should be utilized. I think sometimes the round is a draw.”
