Mayweather-Pacquiao Officials Assigned; Kenny Bayless to Referee Title Fight
Veteran boxing official Kenny Bayless will be the third man in the ring when Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao go toe-to-toe May 2 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
The Nevada Athletic Commission on Tuesday selected Bayless to officiate the bout in a unanimous 5-0 vote.
Widely regarded as boxing’s top referee, 64-year-old Bayless has overseen numerous high-profile title fights, including several which involved Mayweather and Pacquiao. In 2014, Bayless served as the referee for Mayweather’s unanimous decision victory over Marcos Maidana, as well as Pacquiao’s victory in his second bout with Timothy Bradley.
The NAC also appointed judges for Mayweather-Pacquiao on Tuesday: Las Vegas’ Burt Clements and Dave Moretti will score the bout along with Glenn Feldman of Connecticut.
