PBC on ESPN Adds Solid Undercard
Premier Boxing Champions already had a solid card
lined up for cable sports powerhouse ESPN on Oct 14. Headlined by
former world champion Devon Alexander taking on Aron Martinez, all
the event needed was a sizeable undercard to coincide with the
featured attraction.
Now PBC on ESPN has one.
Officials for PBC announced on Thursday the addition of a 10-round lightweight bout between Ivan Redkach (18-1, 14 KOs) and Erick Martinez (11-2-1, 5 KOs). Redkach is trying to bounce back from a fourth-round TKO loss to Dejan Zlaticanin in June while Martinez has lost his last two battles. Needless to say, it’s a critical matchup for both.
Televised coverage from the Gila River Arena in Glendale, Ariz. of the main card begins at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT on ESPN. Set to air on the main portion of the telecast will be the U.S. debut of IBF featherweight champion Lee Selby (21-1, 8 KOs) as he defends his crown against former multi-division world champ Fernando Montiel (54-4-2, 39 KOs).
Also on the undercard is undefeated flyweight Damien Vazquez (7-0, 3 KOs) taking on Francisco Lapizco (7-1, 2 KOs) in a six-round bout; 2012 Olympic Silver medalist Tugstsogt Nyambayar (3-0, 3 KOs) in a super bantamweight bout against Ricardo Proana (11-2, 9 KOs); Alexis Santiago (19-3-1, 8 KOs) versus Gustavo Molina (10-8, 4 KOs) in an eight-round super bantamweight bout; Lionell Thompson (15-3, 9 KOs) against Thomas Hanshaw (6-6, 4 KOs) in an eight-round cruiserweight bout; and undefeated super middleweight prospects Kevin Newman (3-0-1, 1 KO) and David Benevidez (9-0, 8 KOs) separate bouts.
