PBC on ESPN Weigh-in Results: Derevyanchenko, Soliman on Point
Premier Boxing Champions returns to Foxwoods Resort
Casino in Mashantucket, Conn., on Thursday with another edition of
PBC on ESPN. Headlining the event will be an IBF middleweight title
eliminator between Sergiy Derevyanchenko and Sam Soliman and at
Wednesday’s weigh-ins, both combatants were on point.
Soliman (44-13, 18 KOs) is coming off back-to-back losses for the first time since 1997 and desperately needs to get back in the win column. Nearing the twilight of his career, the former IBF middleweight world champion and two-time WBA super middleweight title challenger looked to be in prime condition on the scale. “King” Soliman came in officially at 159 pounds.
Derevyanchenko, meanwhile, is still green in his pro career but the 2008 Olympian is the favorite coming in. He’s looked terrific thus far at this point in his career and Derevyanchenko (8-0, 6 KOs) knows a win over Soliman would be a boon for his young career. Like his foe, the Ukrainian officially checked in at 159 pounds.
ESPN will televise the action beginning at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
