PBC on ESPN Weigh-in Results: Herring, Shafikov Make Weight
Premier Boxing Champions returns to cable sports giant
ESPN Saturday night with an intriguing lightweight showdown. The
PBC on ESPN event will be aired live from the Santander Arena in
Reading, Penn., with the card being anchored by Jamel Herring
taking on Denis Shafikov in a scheduled 10-rounder.
Herring (15-0, 8 KOs) has been stellar thus far in his still-blossoming pro career. The Marines war veteran and 2012 U.S. Olympic team captain is clamoring for an eventual title shot, but he won’t get one if he loses to Shafikov, who is coming off a disheartening loss to Rances Barthelemy in December.
At Thursday’s weigh-ins, both fighters were on point, giving their fight the green light. Both main event combatants stepped to the scale and nailed it, each weighing in officially at 134.5 pounds.
The televised portion of the card begins at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.
