Tripleheader Anchors ‘Knockout Night at the D’ on Sep. 30
Just days after announcing that “Knockout Night at the D” inked a
deal with ESPN International, the Las Vegas-based boxing series
unveiled a solid tripleheader that will anchor its next show on
Sep. 30. The event will be promoted by Roy Jones Jr. Boxing
Promotions.
Headlining the event at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center will be a 10-round super bantamweight showdown between Hanzel Martinez (23-2, 19 KOs) and Emmanuel Quartey. The duel will be a for a regional title but with both fighters employing an aggressive fighting style, the main bout should be entertaining. Quartey (20-2, 19 KOs) is mentored by former world welterweight champion Ike Quartey in his native Ghana.
Tony Lopez Jr. (11-1, 4 KOs) will oppose Stephon Young (14-0-3, 6
KOs) in a 10-round bantamweight tilt, also for a regional belt.
John Vera (14-0, 9 KOs) will take on Milorad Zizic (12-1, 6 KOs) in
a scheduled junior middleweight eight-rounder.
“This show has all the makings of the best 'Knockout Night at the D' show of the year with three title fights on tap,” RJJ Boxing Promotions CEO/co-founder Keith Veltre said. “The six principal fighters have a combined record of 94-6-3 with 63 knockouts. All three of these title fights are evenly matched and can go either way. And we plan to load up the undercard with many of Las Vegas' most promising prospects.”
What started out as a fun local event has quickly blossomed into a contender as one of the best boxing series on TV. “Knockout Night at the D” signed a deal to be aired live on CBS Sports Network earlier in the year and now the action will be given to fight fans across the globe via ESPN International. The action will air live on CBSSN beginning at 11 p.m. ET/8 p.m. PT.
