The UFC will hold its third “UFC Fan Expo” Aug. 27-28 at the Hynes
Convention Center in Boston, the promotion announced on
Thursday.
The two-day expo, featuring MMA vendors and fighters, will culminate with UFC 118 on Aug. 28 at the TD Garden in Boston, the promotion’s first effort in the state since it passed regulations for MMA last December.
At UFC 118, former UFC heavyweight and light heavyweight champion Randy Couture is expected to face pro boxer James Toney, who will be making his MMA debut. UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar will defend his title against B.J. Penn in the co-main event. Edgar wrested the championship from Penn with a five-round unanimous decision at UFC 112 last April in Abu Dhabi, U.A.E.
The UFC, in partnership with Reed Exhibitions, will hold its second expo weekend on May 28-29 in Las Vegas. The UFC’s inaugural expo was held at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center last July at the same location in Las Vegas.
