Unbeaten Jamal James Replaces Caleb Truax, Headlines Bounce TV Card
With Caleb Truax having to withdraw from his headlining bout on
Bounce TV against Juan Carlos Abreu due to medical issues, Premier
Boxing Champions had to scramble for a replacement. Luckily for
fans of the Sweet Science, Jamal James was waiting in the wings and
stepped up to the plate.
James (17-0, 9 KOs) has been feeding on regional opposition thus far in his still-blossoming career and Abreu signifies a healthy step up in class. James, from Minnesota, is coming off a win over Michael Balasi in June. He scored a unanimous eight-round decision over Balasi, who had lost five straight going.
Abreu (18-1-1, 17 KOs) has taken on the likes of Pablo Cesar Cano
and Humberto Soto and is a ferocious puncher. Only one of his wins
has gone the distance and he’s favored against James in their
fight, which will be held inside Full Sail Live at Full Sail
University in Winter Park, Fla.
Also slated to compete on the bill will be prospect Erickson Lubin (11-0, 8 KOs) taking on Orlando Lora (31-5-3, 19 KOs) in a 10-rounder while Wilky Campfort (20-1, 11 KOs) will face Ronaldo Montes (16-2, 14 KOs) in the televised opener.
Further undercard action features undefeated welterweight Samuel Figueroa (8-0, 4 KOs) taking on fellow unbeaten Fernando Paliza (4-0, 4 KOs) in a six round fight; junior lightweight Dennis Galarza (9-1, 6 KOs) will lock horns with Bernardo Uribe (14-4, 10 KOs) over eight rounds; and undefeated welterweight Willie Jones (4-0, 2 KOs) fights Jamal Harris (3-0, 1 KO) in a six round affair.
The PBC card will be televised live on Bounce TV starting at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT. on Friday.
