Video: Wanderlei Silva’s Son Wins First Grappling Title
Wanderlei
Silva has enjoyed a great start to 2013.
He was invited by Fabricio Werdum to be part of the heavyweight’s coaching team on “The Ultimate Fighter Brazil 2,” which will be broadcasted by Globo TV in Brazil on Sundays beginning March 17.
As a fighter, he returned to Japan on March 2 and defeated Brian Stann
by knockout at UFC on Fuel TV 8 in one of the most exciting fights
in recent years. But even with a tough agenda as fighter, Silva
never forgot his parental obligations. And as a doting
father/coach, “The Axe Murderer” saw his son, Thor Silva, win first
jiu-jitsu tournament last Sunday in the United States.
Thor Silva captured the North American Grappling Association championship in the white belt division. While competing, he listened to the advice of his father, who recorded everything with a cell phone at the edge of the mat. Wanderlei relished watching the victory, which wasn’t his son’s first triumph: Thor had already earned a title in wrestling this past November.
"Dad´s overjoyed! Thor won first place in gi and no-gi, I am very, very happy for you, son. God bless you, may you be the next Silva. Just depends on you, son!" Wanderlei posted on Twitter.
In the video below, check out Thor’s performance as a fighter while Wanderlei serves as coach and proud father.
