The 43-year-old former Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight titleholder will begin his pursuit of the $1 million prize offered by the Professional Fighters League when he meets Renan Ferreira in the 2021 PFL 3 headliner on Thursday at the Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The nine-fight event features competitors from the heavyweight and women’s lightweight divisions.

As 2021 PFL 3 approaches, a look at some of the numbers the fighters on the card have generated to this point:

43: Years of age for Werdum. The oldest fighter on the card, he was born on July 30, 1977 in Porto Alegre, Brazil.

5: Ferreira victories by knockout or technical knockout, accounting for 83% of his career total (six). The Team Nogueira export holds one other victory by submission.

4: First-round finishes on the Kayla Harrison resume. The two-time Olympic gold medalist submitted Brittney Elkin with an armbar 3:18 into their June 21, 2018 pairing, put away Moriel Charneski with punches 3:39 into their Dec. 31, 2018 confrontation, tapped Morgan Frier with a keylock 3:35 into their July 11, 2019 clash and dismissed Bobbi Jo Dalziel with an armbar 3:32 into their Oct. 11, 2019 battle. Harrison faces Parana Vale Tudo’s Mariana Morais in the co-main event.

131: Combined wins between the 10 women—Jennifer Maia, Luciana dos Passos Pereira, Roxanne Modafferi, Karol Rosa, Ariane Lipski, Vanessa Porto, Lara Procopio , Daiane Firmino, Norma Dumont and Vanessa Melo—who have beaten Morais.

48: Seconds needed for Mohammed Usman to punch out Reggie Cato at Titan Fighting Championship 58 on Dec. 20, 2019. It was the first sub-minute stoppage victory of the Nigerian heavyweight’s eight-fight career. The younger brother of reigning Ultimate Fighting Championship welterweight titleholder Kamaru Usman, he kicks off his first PFL campaign against Brandon Sayles.

3: Regional mixed martial arts championships on the Sayles mantle. Prior to joining the PFL, the Hawaiian laid claim to the National Fighting Championship super heavyweight and heavyweight titles, along with the Conflict MMA Promotions heavyweight crown.

23: Years of age for Julija Pajic. The youngest fighter on the card, she was born on Oct. 15, 1997 in Frankfurt, Germany. Pajic squares off with former Jungle Fight champion Larissa Pacheco in a women’s lightweight feature.

8: Pacheco wins by submission, accounting for 62% of her career total (13). Her methods of choice: two armbars, two triangle chokes, two guillotine chokes, one anaconda choke and one keylock. Pacheco owns four other wins by knockout or technical knockout and one more by submission.

.733: Cumulative winning percentage between the 18 competitors scheduled to compete at the event. They own a combined record of 176-62-2. Denis Goltsov boasts the most wins (25) of any fighter on the card, while Morais and Kaitlin Young have been saddled with the most losses (10). Advertisement
