The Ultimate Fighting Championship’s women’s flyweight roster just got deeper with the inclusion of former Legacy Fighting Alliance flyweight queen Sabina Mazo. Owner of two brutal head kick knockouts in under a minute, Mazo is expected to make her promotional debut against six-fight Octagon veteran Maryna Moroz.

Undefeated in six bouts, Mazo became a champion a month after celebrating her 21st birthday and signed with the UFC in the same year. At the rate things are going, the future looks good for the woman they call “Colombian Queen.” It all starts with her highly anticipated debut on March 30.

3: Times a Brazilian jiu-jitsu national champion at 60-kg. In addition, she’s a one-time winner at the Pan-American Championship in the same weight class.

40: Inches of leg reach. Mazo’s effective kicking techniques are perfectly complemented by her long legs. This has afforded her two head kick knockouts.

0: Mixed martial arts bouts in 2016. After a successful pro debut year where she went 2-0, Mazo sat out 2016. She upped the pace in the following years, having fought twice in both 2017 and 2018.

19: Years old when she went to the United States to train. After a successful start to her pro career in Latin America, Mazo’s coach advised her to fly to California and train under Rafael Cordeiro.

4: Fight deal with the UFC. Mazo became the first Colombian female fighter to sign with the world’s biggest promotion.

10: Seconds is her fastest finish to date. Mazo has two victories by head kick knockout, and one of them was in her LFA debut. She landed the fight-ending kick on Jamie Thorton at LFA 9.

5: Full rounds needed to beat Shannon Sinn and seize the vacant LFA flyweight title at LFA 37. Mazo proved too much for the. It was a complete shutout as Mazo garnered a score of 50-45 across the board.

7: Months since capturing the flyweight belt, Mazo defended it against Caroline Yariwake da Cruz in the main event of LFA 54. The “Colombian Queen” proved her striking supremacy, rocking the Brazilian several times. Once again, she won by a lopsided unanimous decision to the tune of 50-45, 50-44 and 50-44.

0: Submission wins on her resume. Save for her two knockout wins, the rest of her victories came by decision. However, this doesn’t mean she has no ground game. Mazo is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu brown belt and is always ready to lock in a submission when the opportunity presents itself.

22: Years of age. Mazo was born in Medellin, Colombia, on March 25, 1997.
