Pearson was arrested early Sunday morning in Las Vegas on
suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
The British featherweight was pulled over by police at approximately 4 a.m. local time for driving erratically. After failing a field sobriety test, Pearson was taken to the Clark County Detention Center, where he was held before being released later that same day. TMZ.com first broke news of the arrest; Sherdog.com confirmed the report with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department on Wednesday.
Pearson is currently serving as an assistant coach to UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz on the ongoing 15th season of “The Ultimate Fighter” reality show. The 27-year-old won the ninth season of “TUF” as a lightweight and posted a 4-2 Octagon record at 155 pounds before making the cut to featherweight. Pearson’s debut at 145 pounds proved successful, as the Brit outpointed Junior Assuncao on Dec. 30.
A two-time UFC “Fight of the Night” award winner, Pearson is currently booked to face World Extreme Cagefighting veteran Cub Swanson on June 22 at UFC on FX 4. It is currently unclear whether Pearson’s arrest will affect the matchup.
