The Walkmen: UFC 208 ‘Holm vs. de Randamie’
The Ultimate Fighting Championship on Saturday returned to the Empire State, as UFC 208 invaded the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The event was headlined by a battle between Holly Holm and Germaine de Randamie for the inaugural women’s featherweight championship. The musical tastes of the combatants provided the backdrop.
Blair Douglas’ Celtic anthem “The Landlord’s Walk” announced Holm’s arrival, as the former bantamweight queen attempted to join Randy Couture, B.J. Penn and Conor McGregor as the only two-division champions in UFC history. Meanwhile, de Randamie confidently strolled to the cage underneath Deetox and Lange Frans’ “Het Land Van” ahead of the most significant opportunity of her MMA career (online betting).
Other standout selections included The Notorious B.I.G.’s “Juicy” (Derek Brunson), AC/DC’s “It’s a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock & Roll)” (Jared Cannonier), Gary Clark Jr.’s “Numb” (Ian McCall), Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Bad Moon Rising” (Jim Miller), The Beastie Boys’ “No Sleep Till Brooklyn” (Phillipe Nover), Johnny Cash’s “The Man Comes Around” (Tim Boetsch), Nas’ “Take it in Blood” (Dustin Poirier), Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s “Brooklyn Zoo” (Jarred Brooks) and Sizzla’s “Solid as a Rock” (Randy Brown).
