2018 PFL Championship Official for Madison Square Garden on New Year’s Eve

On Dec. 31, the Professional Fighters League season will circle back to where it all started: Hulu Theatre at Madison Square Garden in New York City, for the 2018 PFL Championship. PFL has announced that tickets to its final event of this season are now available for purchase at ticketmaster.com and on the league’s official site, pflmma.com.

At PFL 1, the league started with 72 fighters spread out over six weight-divisions. After 150 season and playoff bouts, its 11th and final event will see the last 12 left vying to be called champion and a millionaire.

So far, finalists from the featherweight, lightweight, light heavyweight and heavyweight divisions have advanced to the 2018 PFL Championship on New Year’s Eve. Steven Silver, Lance Palmer, Philipe Lins and Josh Copeland took another step closer to million dollar checks at PFL 8, while Natan Schulte, Rashid Magomedov, Vinny Magalhaes and Sean O'Connell did the same at PFL 9.

On Saturday night, the welterweights and middleweights will get their chance to win two fights in one night. Quarterfinal bouts include a rematch between Ultimate Fighting Championship veteran Jake Shields and Ray Cooper III, as well as Bojan Velickovic versus Abubakar Nurmagomedov, the cousin of UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.

“We started with 72 fighters and we’re about to be down to our final 12,” Ray Sefo, PFL President of Fighting Operations, said in an official press release. “This is what everyone has been competing for, and I can’t wait to wrap those six championship belts around the winner’s waists and hand them their $1 million checks.”

PFL League President Carlos Silva echoed Sefo’s excitement when he added, “We’re excited to continue this momentous first season, and the PFL is proud to ring in the New Year with six new world champions, who will also earn $1 million. It will be game-changing and life-changing for our fighters and the sport.”

PFL 10 will take place at the Entertainment & Sports Arena in Washington D.C., Saturday. Quarterfinal bouts will air on Facebook Watch, while semifinal bouts will air on NBC Sports Network. NBCSN will also air the 2018 PFL Championship.
