Cole Smith vs. Miles Johns Booked for UFC Vancouver
Cole
Smith, who lives an hour away from Vancouver, has been
campaigning to get on UFC Vancouver, and now the bantamweight
fighter has gotten his wish.
FloCombat first reported the news that Smith will take on newcomer Miles Johns. Johns later confirmed the matchup to Sherdog.com via text message, adding the following: “I’m excited should be a good fight.”
Smith is coming off of his UFC debut in Ottawa, where he beat
Mitch
Gagnon by decision on May 4. Before that, the Squamish, B.C.
native, fought in Battlefield Fight League where he went 6-0 before
getting the UFC call-up.
Johns, meanwhile, is 8-0 and coming off of a decision win over Richie Santiago on the Contender Series. Before earning the contract, the Fortis MMA product was the LFA bantamweight champion.
UFC Vancouver goes down on Sept. 14 and will see Donald Cerrone take on Justin Gaethje in the main event.
