Dana White Hints 2-3 Women’s Bouts Could Happen at UFC 200, Including Title Fight

The Ultimate Fighting Championship finally confirmed the first seven bouts for its bicentennial event on Wednesday, including its headliner, but thus far no female fights were announced.

That will likely change, according to UFC President Dana White, who teased that multiple women’s matchups could eventually occupy the UFC 200 bill.

“You should expect a couple,” White said during an interview on ESPN’s "SportsCenter" Wednesday. “There will be a couple of women’s fights on UFC 200. Actually, two or three maybe.”

Exactly who will compete at the highly-anticipated event remains to be seen. Reigning bantamweight queen Miesha Tate currently does not have her first title defense booked, although White has previously said ex-champ Ronda Rousey will get the next shot. While Rousey was not expected to return to the Octagon until late 2016, it is unclear if those plans have changed in the wake of Holly Holm’s loss to Tate at UFC 196.

At any rate, if there is a women’s title bout at UFC 200, it would likely have to be at bantamweight, as the 115-pound championship clash between Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Claudia Gadelha is already set for “The Ultimate Fighter 23” finale on July 8. White isn’t ruling out the possibility.

“Could be,” he said with a laugh when asked if UFC 200 would include a women’s title fight.

UFC 200 takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and is headlined by a welterweight rematch between Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor. In another featured bout, Jose Aldo will meet Frankie Edgar for the interim featherweight championship.
