According to RT Sport, the father of UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov is once again in critical condition and on life support at a military hospital in Moscow. After undergoing a heart bypass surgery, Abdulmanap had to be connected to a life support machine when his condition deteriorated on Tuesday, per “multiple reports” from Russian outlets. Abdulmanap awakened from a coma on Friday but is now once again unconscious and unable to breathe on his own.
Abdulmanap initially fell ill with pneumonia at the end of April and was transported from a medical facility in Dagestan to Moscow as a result of heart problems. Abdulmanap was reportedly diagnosed with coronavirus once he arrived in the Russian capital.
Khabib recently posted a video on Instagram where he confirmed that his father’s condition was due to complications resulting from COVID-19. He also revealed that numerous other family members had been affected by the virus.
“My father is still at the hospital. He’s still going through this disease. He also had a heart complication due to COVID-19. Abdulmanap had surgery for his heart last year and also had the second one these days [sic], so he is still in bad condition. That’s all I can say,” Khabib said.
“I want to thank all the people for your support, wishes and your prayers. I also wish all the best. Be safe and healthy. Thank you very much.”
