UFC Headed to Salt Lake City for Fight Night Event on Aug. 6
The Ultimate Fighting Championship will travel to Salt Lake City
for the first time on Aug. 6.
The promotion announced the Fight Night event Thursday. The card takes place at Vivint Smart Home Arena -- home of the NBA’s Utah Jazz -- and will air on Fox Sports 1.
While no fights were officially announced for the event,
FloCombat.com is reporting that a featherweight showdown
pitting Yair
Rodriguez against Alex
Caceres has been targeted for the headliner.
Rodriguez has won six straight fights, including four in the UFC, and is coming off a head kick knockout of Andre Fili at UFC 197. Caceres, meanwhile, outpointed Cole Miller at UFC 199 for his second consecutive Octagon triumph.
The Las Vegas-based promotion previously tried to hold UFC Live 2 in Salt Lake City, but the event was ultimately moved to the San Diego Sports Arena in San Diego, Calif., due to poor ticket sales. That card, which was headlined by a light heavyweight clash between Jon Jones and Vladimir Matyushenko, took place on a Sunday evening on Aug. 1, 2010.
