Video Surfaces of Conor McGregor Allegedly Punching Man in Bar
Former Ultimate Fighting Championship featherweight and lightweight champion Conor McGregor’s history of questionable behavior outside the Octagon adds a new chapter, as a video appearing to show “The Notorious” assaulting an elderly man in a pub surfaced this week.
The video shows McGregor entering a pub and offering a round of his Proper Twelve whiskey to everyone. In spite of McGregor’s insistence, one man refused to drink the whiskey. It is unclear from the video if any words were exchanged between them, but as soon as McGregor drank his shot, he fired a punch to the man’s head without warning. A couple of people grabbed McGregor, taking him immediately out of the bar.
According to TMZ, the assault happened in The Marble Arch Pub in Dublin on April 6. The police announced they'd opened an investigation, but at the moment there are no reports McGregor was ever charged.
McGregor’s last appearance inside the Octagon dates back to October 2018, when he lost to current UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov via a fourth-round neck crank. Prior to that, McGregor (21-4) smashed Eddie Alvarez via TKO in the second stanza of their UFC 205 encounter, taking Alvarez’s UFC lightweight belt and becoming the organization’s first-ever simultaneous two-division champion.
