Weekend Fight Odds: Mickey Gall, Gennady Golovkin Check in as Sizeable Favorites

With football season just underway and the baseball season winding down, there’s always more than enough ways to try to earn some extra cash if you’re a knowledgeable sports fun. But maybe we’re a bit jaded at Sherdog because we favor wagering on the various fightsports across the globe, and this weekend is loaded with enough fistic action to satiate even the most degenerate of gamblers.

The biggest fight event of the weekend is UFC 203 but it does have some legitimate competition with the Gennady Golovkin vs. Kell Brook scrum over on HBO. For those looking to hopefully cash in some heavy underdogs, then there are several key matchups in the world of boxing to keep the bankroll increasing, while in MMA, it’s more or less needing to have enough knowledge to place the right wager on the right matchups.

According Bovada, one of the largest online sportsbooks, UFC 203 is loaded with an assortment of betting props and odds to satisfy everybody who has different wagering gameplans. UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic is a slight favorite over challenger and former K-1 World Grand Prix champion Alistair Overeem. The local fighter currently stands at a -150 betting favorite compared to a +120 for Overeem.

Prospect Mickey Gall remains a sizable favorite over former WWE star CM Punk, who is a +300 ‘dog to the MMA fighter. Gall is currently at -400 as most feel his experience in real fighting will be too much for CM Punk to overcome.

Over in the Sweet Science, reigning middleweight champ Golovkin is a massive -600 favorite over Brook, the IBF welterweight titlist, who is stepping up two weight classes to finally land a mega fight. The Englishman is a +400 underdog to “GGG.”

Also in the world of boxing, Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez is a huge -650 favorite over Carlos Cuadras, who is a +500 ‘dog. Middleweight titleholder Daniel Jacobs is the biggest favorite of the entire weekend as “Miracle Man” is a whopping -2500 favorite over Sergio Mora, whom Jacobs beat via second-round TKO last year. “The Latin Snake” is a +1000 underdog.
