(PRESS RELEASE) -- Someone's "0" had to go last Saturday, September
22, at the Golden Nugget in Atlantic City, when Ashure
Elbanna of Newark took on fellow undefeated New Jersey resident
Frankie Roberts and it was Elbanna who emerged victorious via
third-round armbar.
Fighting in one of the featured bouts of Carl Mascarenhas & Son's Asylum Fight League 39 event, the Palestinian-American Elbanna brought an early end to an entertaining struggle between BJJ specialists by sinking in the finishing hold at 2:57.
Elbanna is now 3-0. Roberts falls to 2-1.
"Ashure was sensational," said Long-time fight manager/promoter Hani Darwish of Extreme Fight Club Gym, Elbanna's manager. "He kept his composure against a strong opponent, waited for an opening and went for it with amazing focus when he finally saw it. Ashure is going to be very difficult to beat for anyone at this weight. He's such a natural talent."
Elbanna will next appear on Saturday, November 24, at Darwish's own "Extreme Fighting Championships 5: Undisputed" event at the Police Athletic League of Parsippany.
