Jan 27, 2014 Comments
(PRESS RELEASE) -- ROAD Fighting Championship presents ROAD FC 014,
the first numbered series event for 2014. ROAD FC 014 will be held
in Seoul, South Korea at Seoul Olympic Hall on Sunday, February 9,
2014. The Main Event will be the Featherweight Tournament Final
match between Kwon Bae-Yong and Choi Mu-Gyeom for the very first
Featherweight Championship Belt. The next two bouts announced are
Kume Takasuke versus Eduardo
Simoes and Jo Nam-Jin versus Yamagami Mikihito.
Former Lightweight Tournament Finalist and Championship contender Kume Takasuke (15-3-4) will face Brazilian Eduardo Simoes (7-2-1-1) at ROAD FC 014. Kume is one of Japan's best lightweights, a master grappler with lightning speed. He continued a 10-fight winning streak through the ROAD FC Lightweight Tournament with every win by submission. When he faced Nam Yui-Chul for the Final match for the Lightweight Championship, the match was so competitive that the judges needed a fourth round to determine the victor. ROAD FC honored Kume by awarding to him Nam's first title defense. While Nam became the victor and Champion on both occasions, the pair of fights for the Title remain two of the best bouts in ROAD FC history.
ROAD FC is proud to welcome another high-level Brazilian fighter to
Korea, Brazilian Top Team's Eduardo
Simoes. Simoes has distinguished himself in Brazilian MMA and
Vale Tudo promotions and is undefeated since 2007. He is a
submission and wrestling specialist who started at the famed Ruas
Vale Tudo then with the Brazilian Top Team where among his primary
sparring partners were Rousimar Toquinho and Milton
Vieira. Simoes has been a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt for
over ten years and has many championships to his credit. Simoes is
fearless in the cage, and is known for his guard pass and heel hook
finishes. Kume Takasuke versus Eduardo
Simoes will be an incredibly fast, technical and exciting match
in the ROAD FC cage that will surely showcase high level grappling
from both players.
Young yet highly experienced Korean MMA fighter Jo Nam-Jin (7-6) versus Shooto Flyweight World Champion Yamagami Mikihito (10-2) is the third bout announced for ROAD FC 014. Jo joins ROAD FC for the first time in his career as one of Korea's most prolific MMA fighters on the international scene. Jo trains with Kim Dong-Hyun and former ROAD FC Bantamweight Champion Kang Kyung-Ho at Team MAD in Busan. At only 22-years old, he has already fought some of the top fighters in his division, such as Taiyo Nakahara and BJ Kojima. He is an exciting fighter who has never been finished.
