Women's Title Fight Announced
Dec 1, 2013 Comments
(PRESS RELEASE) -- Katlyn
Chookagian (4-0) and Vanessa Demopoulos (4-0) will engage in
battle this coming December 7th for the NAAFS amateur female
championship. The 3 round fight at 120 pound catch weight is
scheduled alongside 5 other championship title fights at Night of
Champions, which will take place in Akron.
Katlyn Chookagian, who has been fighting for a little over a year, arm barred her way into the NAAFS this past August during a bout with Gina Begley. Chookagian showed incredible standup and rocked Begley early in the fight. But it wasn’t her power that finished the fight. That night Katlyn picked up her third consecutive win via a first round arm bar, a move which she has had success with. Of her four wins, 3 have come via arm bar and fight fans can be sure her opponent on December 7th will come ready to defend her slick ground game.
Vanessa Demopoulos, who has also been fighting for about one year, has claimed her victories in almost exact opposite fashion. While Chookagian has won three times via armbar and one via decision, Demopoulos has secured her wins via three decisions and one arm bar. At 5’1’’, she finds herself much shorter than her opponent who stands 5’9’’ however she does get the nod in the experience category. Her opponents have a combined 8-6 record while Chookagian’s opponents stand at 6-6.
A few days remain until Ohio fans are treated to the very best amateur action around. Simply put, you just can find this much amateur talent on one card, anywhere. Don’t miss your chance to see the professionals of tomorrow earn their strips today.
