We all aim to stick the landing in any personal pursuit. However, reality is not always what we envision. That is unless you are newly minted Ultimate Fighting Championship bantamweight Adrian Yanez. The 26-year-old stuck his proverbial landing on the Week 2 Episode of this year’s edition of Dana White’s Contender Series when he scored a 39-second knockout of fellow upstart Brady Huang.
“I’ve been envisioning it for a very long time. Ever since I first signed on to it. Even when I first found out I was fighting Brady Huang. I saw his most recent fight and I just envisioned it. It was that combination particularly. The right hand, left hook that I envisioned my whole entire camp,” Yanez told Sherdog. “It was really cool to see that land. And also I just felt I knew I was going to do it. This whole entire camp revolved around me looking for a finish. I’m just really happy I had a break-out performance on that big of a stage. The biggest stage that I have ever been on. I’m on cloud nine still.”
Along with looking back at that pivotal moment in his young career, he also looked forward and explained his desire to make his promotional debut soon. Plus, he touched on how his new contract will improve his lifestyle and missing his deceased father Andy in the days before the fight.
