PFL’s Impa Kasanganay Wishes to Use Part of the $1 Million Prize for Humanitarian Work

For Impa Kasanganay, giving back to the community is as vital as taking home the final victory.

Kasanganay (13-3, 3-0 PFL) had a successful Professional Fighters League path this year, joining the Regular Season after a first-round victory in Week 7 of the Challenger Series. “Tshilobo” then dominated Cory Hendricks en route to a unanimous decision before submitting Tim Caron via second-round arm-triangle choke in June. Now, he’s attached to a class with Marthin Hamlet in one of the 205-pound tournament brackets. Ahead of his assignment, Kasanganay revealed his plans for the potential $1 million prize, emphasizing intelligent financial decisions, investments, and giving back to his community and team. He also spoke about his deep religious beliefs, praying before fights, and aiming to use his platform as a fighter to reflect God's glory and inspire others.

“My mom always told me, ‘Become a world champion, be a great fighter,’ all that's cool. She's very proud, but she'll be really proud when I use it for humanitarian work too. That'd be really good. I don't know exactly what humanitarian work I'll do yet, but maybe it's even go back to Congo, do something over there. Do something here in the United States, whether it's one drive, whether it's kids in a hospital, something that will be worth it with the money too. Not just serving myself or even thinking about setting myself up financially, which I definitely will make the right investments or right long-term plan and being patient with that, but also plan to at least maybe do one event that's gonna really impact people, whether they get food and they don't have it, or helping provide education for one kid. Maybe it's like seeing if there's a way to invest and pay for their education, school, or hospital bill or something. Everybody needs help, and if I can have the opportunity to do that with this million dollars, I definitely will [help].”
