HBO Boxing Weigh-in Results: Matthysse, Postol Greenlit
Argentinean bomber Lucas Matthysse has a chance to regain his WBC
junior welterweight title Saturday night when he faces Viktor
Postol. The two will headline an HBO Boxing doubleheader (10:15
p.m. ET), but only one can walk out of the ring with the title.
Both fighters had no trouble making weight during Friday afternoon’s weigh-ins, making their 12-round affair official. The two will lock horns in the StubHub Center in Carson, Calif., and if their physiques and attitude were a harbinger of what Saturday night will bring, boxing fans should be in for a treat.
Matthysse (37-3, 34 KOs) easily made the 140-pound limit; he officially weighed in at 139.4 pounds. Not to be outdone, Russia’s Postol (27-0, 11 KOs) came in at an identical 139.4.
The co-feature between Humberto Soto and Antonio Orozsco will also be at junior welterweight and, as expected, both men came in on point. Soto tipped the scale at 140 while Orozsco came it at 140.6.
