Jerry Odom to Fight Julius Jackson on July 22 Edition of ShoBox
Super middleweight contender Jerry Odom has stepped up on short
notice to oppose Julius Jackson on next week’s ShoBox: The New
Generation event. Odom replaces Ronald Ellis, who pulled out of his
bout with Jackson due to a hand injury.
Odom (13-2-1, 12 KOs) is coming off a controversial draw against Ellis this past February and jumped at the chance to fight Jackson (19-1, 15 KOs), who is the son of legendary knockout artist Julian Jackson.
“I have been training for a few fights that fell through,” Odom
said. “I’m in shape and ready to go. When my team got the call we
decided it was the right decision to take this opportunity. My
power will be a big factor. Jackson has faced punchers before, but
he hasn’t faced one like me. This is a great opportunity, and I
will put on a show next Friday.”
Headlining the ShoBox card will be a super bantamweight tussle between Adam Lopez (15-0, 7 KOs) and Roman Ruben Reynoso (18-1-1, 7 KOs) in a 10-rounder. Lightweights O’Shaquie Foster (10-1, 7 KOs) will oppose Rolando Chinea (12-1-1, 6 KOs) in an eight-round battle as well.
Showtime will televise the action from Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Conn. live beginning at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT.
