PBC on Fox Weigh-in Results: Wilder, Arreola Ready for Title Scrap
Premier Boxing Champions returns to Fox Saturday
evening with a heavyweight championship showdown with huge
implications hanging in the balance. WBC titlist Deontay Wilder
will put his unblemished pro record and belt on the line against
former world title challenger Chris Arreola in the main event and
after Friday’s weigh-ins, all that’s left is to let the leather
fly.
Wilder (36-0, 35 KOs) will look to defend his strap for the fourth time when he opposes Arreola inside the Legacy Arena in Birmingham, Ala. “The Bronze Bomber” has destroyed virtually everybody he’s faced and badly covets a title unification bout with either Anthony Joshua or Tyson Fury… or both. He knows he can’t gather up all the titles in the division unless gets past the strong-willed and aggressive Arreola, though.
Arreola (36-4-1, 31 KOs) is one of the toughest dudes in the weight
class and is aiming to play the spoiler role in prime time on
national television. “The Nightmare” has come up short in his
biggest fights, though, getting bested by Vitali Klitschko, Tomasz
Adamek and Bermane Stiverne. The only way to tell if he can get
past that hump will be to climb through the ropes and take care of
business.
At Friday’s weigh-ins, the heavyweights looked massive. The challenger first stepped onto the scale and came in at robust 246.2 pounds. Wilder, meanwhile, looked like he was cut from iron as he came in exactly 20 pounds lighter to go with his four-inch height advantage.
The PBC on Fox telecast will air the action live beginning at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
Sammy Vasquez (146.8) vs. Felix Diaz (145.8)
Vic Darchinyan (123) vs. Sergio Frias (121.2)
