Polaris 5 Lineup Finalized
With grappling fans itching for the next installment of Polaris to
satiate their thirst, the U.K.-based promotion has finalized its
lineup for Polaris 5, which takes place Aug. 19 inside Indigo at
The O2 London in London, England.
Jiu jitsu wizard and leg lock savant Garry Tonon will go head-to-head with Dillon Danis in the main event. Tonon, who has become a superstar in the grappling world the past few years with his performances in ADCC, Metamoris and Polaris, is primed to take on another beast on the ground in Danis, who can match Tonon move-for-move with leg locks.
Former Bellator featherweight champion Daniel Straus will take on
another former MMA champion in Jake Shields. The two will come
together in the Polaris 5 co-feature in what should be a tremendous
chess match between two wrestling-based submission machines.
The remainder of the Polaris 5 main card will see Brad Pickett take on Phil Harris; Ross Nicholls grappling with Oliver Taza; Vitor Ribeiro against Caol Uno; Lloyd Cooper versus A.J. Agazarm (gi); Vanessa English versus Sam Cook (gi); and Ronnie Mann against Ashleigh Grimshaw.
In the prelims, Masakazu Imanari will take on Valmyr Neto; Jamie Scott will collide with Tuomas Simola; River Dillon will lock horns with Miha Perhavec; Elvira Karppinen will face Ffion Davies; and Masakazu Imanari will oppose Valmyr Neto.
Polaris 5 will stream live on UFC Fight Pass, though the exact broadcast time has yet to be announced.
