Floyd Mayweather Jr. will go down as one of boxing’s giants, provided he can clear one last hurdle.

The 40-year-old Grand Rapids, Michigan, native plans to come out of retirement to face reigning Ultimate Fighting Championship lightweight titleholder Conor McGregor in a blockbuster super fight on Aug. 26 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. There, Mayweather will attempt to surpass Rocky Marciano in the history books and improve to 50-0 as a professional. “Money” has not competed since he outpointed Andre Berto a little less than two years ago. Victories over Oscar De La Hoya, Manny Pacquiao, Ricky Hatton, Sharmba Mitchell, Arturo Gatti, Diego Corrales, Genaro Hernandez, Marcos Maidana (twice), Miguel Cotto, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Shane Mosley highlight Mayweather’s spotless resume.

During a stellar career that spans more than two decades, Mayweather has compiled his share of intriguing statistical data:

1: Olympic medals won. Mayweather, then 19, captured bronze at the 1996 Summer Games in Atlanta, losing a controversial decision to Bulgaria’s Serafim Todorov in the semifinals.

2: Times he has been named The Ring magazine’s “Fighter of the Year.” Mayweather was honored by the publication in 1998 and 2007.

3: National Golden Gloves championships on his resume. He won the prestigious tournament in 1993, 1994 and 1996.
