By the Numbers: UFC 206

Max Holloway doesn’t necessarily have the hardware he wants, but his place in the featherweight division can no longer be denied.

The Hawaiian claimed the interim 145-pound belt with a third-round technical knockout victory over Anthony Pettis in the UFC 206 headliner at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto on Saturday night. The victory sets up a future showdown with reigning featherweight titlist Jose Aldo at a future date.

Holloway was hardly the evening’s only star, however. Cub Swanson, Donald Cerrone and Doo Ho Choi were some of the event’s other luminaries, and the final figures reflect the memorable night of fights. 25: Wins in UFC and WEC competition for Cerrone. That figure ties him with Dan Henderson for most wins among fighters with experience in the UFC, WEC, Pride Fighting Championships and Strikeforce promotions. Wanderlei Silva is No. 1 with 27 wins.

14: Featherweight victories in UFC and WEC competition for Cub Swanson, who garnered a wild decision triumph over Doo Ho Choi in a featured 145-pound tilt. That figure is the second most in the history of the two promotions behind only Jose Aldo (16).

That ties him with Stipe Miocic, Mairbek Taisumov, Francis Ngannou and Vicente Luque for the longest active finishing streak in the promotion. 22: Significant strikes by which Valerie Letourneau outlanded Viviane Pereira in their strawweight matchup. Despite that advantage, the former 115-pound title challenger lost a split decision to her Brazilian opponent. Letourneau outlanded her foe 16 to 3 in round one, 9 to 4 in round two and 22 to 18 in round three.

11: Unofficial media scorecards, of the 18 tracked by MMADecisions.com, that favored Letourneau. Four had it for Pereira, while three others scored it a draw.

721: Days since Mitch Gagnon’s last Octagon appearance, a third-round submission defeat to Renan Barao at UFC Fight Night 58. The Canadian fell short in his return on Saturday night, dropping a unanimous verdict to Matthew Lopez.

80: Total strikes by which Dustin Ortiz outlanded Zach Makovsky (109 to 29) in their flyweight bout. That total included a 53-to-5 advantage in the second stanza for Ortiz, who ended a two-bout skid.
